A while back, the preacher from our church in Dallas was preparing for a series on parenting and recommended several books. One of those books was "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Tedd Tripp. I got that book and read it.
The main tenet of the book is that we should be molding our children's hearts rather than their actions, to follow God and not the world.
Overall, I think it is a really good book. As with anything, there are parts that I wholeheartedly agree with, and parts that I disagree with. But there are also parts that I am not sure whether I agree or disagree. I have been thinking about this on my own for nearly a month now, and I still am not sure what my final thinkng on the matter will be.
I am hoping that someone out there will have read this book and want to discuss it with me. Or that someone will decide to go read it...and once again, want to discuss it with me. There are quite a few people I know of reading this blog whose opinions I respect and would really like to hear. There are probably some people who I don't know of reading this blog who have some valuable input to give.
We could do this any way you want...read the whole book and then talk about what you think. Read a chapter or section at a time and discuss...whatever works for you...as long as you talk to me about this one. So what do you say? Are you ready for a discussion?
