About Me

Hi! My name is Christy and I started this blog to keep my family and friends updated on what is going on in our lives and to share pictures with them. But it is becoming more now, so I thought I would share some of our background with you here.

My husband and I married when I was 28. This was much later than I would have chosen, but if we had met sooner, we probably wouldn't have even dated each other, much less gotten married. And I am so grateful for him in my life.

We started trying to have children about a year and a half into our marriage. But it was six years before we finally had our first child in January 2008, with the assistance of an RE and IVF. Earlier in my life I definitely thought I would be done having children by the time I was in my mid thirties, and here I was having my first at 35.5. Knowing what the problem was made the process much faster the next time and we welcomed our second child in December 2009.

We are now dealing with the possibility of our son having food allergies, but we won't know for sure for quite some time. In the meantime, I am living a dairy free life in order to try to help his eczema and reflux symptoms while he is breastfeeding. We previously used LOTS of cheese and other dairy products, so we are undergoing radical changes in how we cook. The good news is that we are discovering lots of foods and products to make our new eating habits a little easier to achieve. We still pray that we will not have to keep this up, but we are discovering that it is manageable if we do.

We are learning that parenting is a lot harder than we ever knew. We turn to our parents and friends for advice on a frequent basis. We have learned that laughing is usualy much better than screaming or pulling our hair out in frustration. (Although that still does happen at times.)

We have learned that we can be blessed in every situation if we are willing to look for the blessing. So in the midst of sleep deprivation, cleaning puke out of hair, poop out of the bathtub, and giving all my strength of mind to not strangle our strong-willed toddler, we are grateful for all the amazing blessings in our life.
